1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour #248 - - Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Punakha

1001 Places/Experiences to See or Savour After Remission #248

- Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Punakha

(It took over an hour to hike up but this stupa, Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, was worth the effort. Nestled high on a mountain ridge at this Punakha valley and built by the Queen Mother, it is relatively new compared to all the other stupas and dzongs we have seen so far. But what views as we trudged our way up! And what an even bigger treat upon arrival. Just look at the rice farm scenery and the gorgeous Punakha valley from the very top of the stupa - and check out that rickety suspension bridge used by cows too)
